Enable Flash For Safari
Apple released Safari 14 yesterday and it has begun to roll out to users (I got my notification earlier today). Apple dropped support for Flash Player in Safari 14, due to Flash Player's upcoming end-of-life at the end of the year.
- Question: Q: Enable Flash Player for all sites Safari I was looking for a way to enable Flash Player for all websites using Safari, rather than being prompted for each website. Moreso, I wanted a way to do this using the defaults command.
- Click the Plugins button on the left side of the page In the list of Add-ons, look for Shockwave Flash (another name for Flash Player) and check the status that appears in the dropdown menu on the far right side of the screen. Click the dropdown menu and select Always Activate. Enabling Flash in Apple Safari.
- If your Safari version is 11.0 or later, follow the steps For OS X 10.11, macOS 10.12 and later. If your Safari version is 10.0 or later, follow the steps For OS X 10.10. If your Safari version is earlier than 10.0, follow the steps mentioned in For OS X 10.8 and 10.9, or For OS X 10.6 and 10.7.
Note: Adobe Flash will no longer be supported after 2020. Microsoft plans to remove Flash from Windows entirely by the end of 2020.
Because Flash will no longer be supported after 2020, it is turned off by default in the new Microsoft Edge. Other browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla, and Safari are also planning on removing Adobe Flash in the same timeframe.
For more information about the end of Flash support, see Adobe Flash end of support on December 31, 2020.
Here’s how to allow or block Flash permanently for individual websites:
Enable Flash Safari Mac 10.15
Go to Settings and more > Settings .
In the left navigation, select Site permissions.
In Site permissions, select Adobe Flash.
Set the toggle on for the Ask before running Flash option.
The Block and Allow lists will be available after you visit a site that uses Flash.
Enable Flash Safari Catalina
The next time you visit a site the uses Flash, the browser will ask for your permission before allowing Flash to run.
